First Publication: Eldar Dayan's Friends Take a Step That Could Change Everything

Eldar Dayan's friends, Maxim Berman and Omri Peretz, have handed over their mobile phones to the police as part of the murder investigation that has been ongoing for about two weeks. The two strongly deny any involvement in the murder and claim they fled the scene of the brawl together with Dayan, fearing they had run over a member of the rival group. They tried to hide the car at a gas station at the Yarkon Junction in Petah Tikva to avoid being found with signs of impact. After hiding in the area, they decided to return to Dimona, tried to contact Dayan, and when he didn't answer, they assumed he was still in hiding. Yesterday, Berman was questioned for the sixth time, after being transferred from the detention facility at the Russian Compound in Jerusalem, as part of the separation from Peretz, 15 days after their arrest. While Berman led investigators to the phone he had hidden among the bushes, Peretz made sure investigators would find the phone hidden at his home. On the advice of their attorneys, Coral Siboni and Chen Baruch, the suspects decided to fully cooperate and hand over the phones to prove their innocence. The Central Unit of the Sharon District will examine the phones and await the final report from the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
