Before the complex surgery, doctors conducted extensive preparatory work, assessing the man's psychological status and checking his immunological compatibility with the donor tissue. A multidisciplinary council confirmed that the patient met all medical criteria for such a risky step. As a result of the previous surgery, the man was left with only a small fragment of the organ, which caused severe psychological trauma and depression. The hospital director, Associate Professor Duong Duc Hung, shared the patient's feelings: the man said his life had lost meaning. According to doctors, the transplant not only restored a lost body part but also revived the psychological well-being of the entire family. Currently, the postoperative phase is progressing successfully: the donor organ has taken, with no signs of rejection or dangerous complications. The head of the hospital's Andrology Center, Associate Professor Nguyen Quang, emphasized the extreme complexity of the reconstructive surgery. Surgeons had to meticulously restore the anatomy of the urethra, corpora cavernosa, and corpus spongiosum, as well as perform microsurgical connection of tiny arteries, veins, and nerve endings. Such delicate work requires maximum concentration to ensure tissue viability and restoration of all functions.
