Israel's Sheba Medical Center has signed a strategic agreement with OpenAI, becoming the first hospital outside the United States to gain access to specialized medical AI models. The deal was reached with OpenAI's healthcare leadership, headed by Nate Gross. As early as August 2026, a delegation of Israeli specialists will travel to the company's headquarters for working meetings. The main goal is to provide doctors and researchers with early access to advanced models, including medical ChatGPT Health, which is currently being tested only in a few American clinics. The system is protected against hacking and helps make clinical decisions based on the latest global research. As part of the collaboration, Sheba specialists will develop internal applications, and the hospital's treatment protocols will be integrated into OpenAI's models. In practice, doctors will be able to input descriptions of clinical cases and instantly receive a selection of relevant scientific articles. AI tools are also planned for use in documentation management. Sheba Medical Center has been implementing AI technologies through its innovation center ARC, founded in 2019.
