Fired Shots in a Mosque in Shfaram, Fled the Scene – and Were Located: Indictment Against Two City Residents

The Haifa District Attorney's Office will file in the coming days an indictment against two residents of Shfaram, aged 32 and 47, for weapons offenses after they fired shots inside a mosque in the city. The suspect who fired, who held a sword and a pistol, fled the scene and was caught after a manhunt with the assistance of the Yamam. The second suspect hid the pistol and was also arrested. The investigation was led by the Galilee District Investigative Unit.

The Haifa District Attorney's Office is expected to file in the coming days an indictment against two residents of Shfaram, aged 32 and 47, for weapons offenses, after they fired shots inside a mosque in the city. Early last month, a report was received about gunfire inside a mosque by a suspect who held a sword and a pistol and fled the scene. Large forces of northern district police officers and Border Guard fighters launched extensive searches, and with intelligence assistance and technological tools, Yamam fighters managed to arrest the suspect in an open area near the village of Ibtin. Later in the investigation, Galilee District Investigative Unit detectives located another suspect who had hidden the pistol, and arrested him as well. Detective teams located the pistol and linked the shooter's path with the actions of the suspect who hid the weapon. Their detention was extended from time to time, and a prosecutor's statement was filed ahead of the indictment by attorney Daniel Koplev.
