During firefighting and search operations, firefighters identified a pile of smoldering embers at the starting point of the fire. The Israel Fire and Rescue Services say the finding raises suspicion that the fire was caused by human ignition. The finding was discovered during a scene investigation conducted by firefighters from the Jerusalem District, after they worked to extinguish the fire and search the area. The fire service called on hikers to act responsibly, avoid lighting fires in open areas and forests, and adhere to safety rules to prevent damage to nature, property, and human life.
