Fights off shark in shallow water, saves pregnant fiancée

A Florida resident, identified as Hai, fought a shark in shallow waters at Daytona Beach last Saturday and saved his pregnant fiancée. The incident occurred during a family vacation, when the man noticed the danger and moved his partner to a safe area. He was bitten on his left leg, fought the shark which also attacked his hand and other leg, and managed to get out of the water on his own. He was taken to a hospital and underwent complex emergency surgery. Doctors estimate his initial recovery will take about three months, and the extent of long-term rehabilitation is still being assessed. Marine experts have not yet determined the shark species, and emphasized that unprovoked attacks are rare, with 60-65 cases per year worldwide.
