Father and his six children declared missing on a hike in the south - found by Arava rescue volunteers

A father and his six children, aged 9-19, were declared missing during a hike in Nahal Gov in the south, after contact with them was lost in the afternoon. Volunteers from the Arava rescue unit located them and reported they were exhausted but in good condition. A Magen David Adom ambulance arrived at the scene to check on them.

A father and his six children, aged 9 to 19, were declared missing today (Monday) after going on a hike in Nahal Gov in the south of the country. The family members, who set out without the mother, began the trek at 08:00 in the morning from the city of Ovot, equipped with water, hats, and hiking shoes. At 09:30 they informed the mother that they had started walking the trail, and two hours later, around 11:30, they wrote again that they were exhausted from the heavy heat and hoped to finish the trail within half an hour. Since then, contact with them was lost, and volunteers from the Arava rescue unit were dispatched to the incident. Teams from the settlements of Hazeva and Idan rushed to Nahal Gov, where they split into two groups: one began searching from the top of the stream, and the other from its bottom. Shortly ago, the volunteers reported that they had reached the family members, all of them together, very exhausted but in good condition. They noted that the family would get into an air-conditioned vehicle, drink water, and receive treatment, and that a Magen David Adom ambulance was on its way to the scene to check them and decide if they need evacuation for further treatment.
