The firefighters brought the flames under control, located the man, and extracted him to the medical teams. MDA paramedics Avraham Frumer and Chaim Gitler said they saw thick black smoke, and that the man was unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, after inhaling a large amount of smoke. They performed prolonged resuscitation and evacuated him to Assuta Medical Center in the city in critical condition. At the hospital, they treated his burns and respiratory damage, but despite the efforts, doctors had to determine his death. Fire investigators opened an inquiry into the circumstances of the fire's outbreak.
