Fall of Likud and Rise of Opposition – Results of a Fresh Poll

A Lazar Research poll for Maariv (August 12-13) shows Netanyahu's bloc dropping to 48 seats and the opposition rising to 57. Likud gets 21 seats, trailing Eisenkot's party. The opposition with allies could reach 61 votes. Eisenkot leads Netanyahu in the premiership race (49% vs 38%). 64% support a preemptive strike on Iran without US approval.

A fresh poll by the Lazar Research center for the newspaper Maariv, conducted on August 12-13, records a weakening of the position of Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc. The prime minister's bloc shrinks to 48 mandates, while the opposition Zionist bloc strengthens to 57. The Likud party gets only 21 seats — two fewer than Gadi Eisenkot's political force. The opposition, in a potential alliance with the union of Hili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel, could form a majority of 61 votes. The Democratic Party is recovering its influence, reaching 10 mandates. The Arab parties in their current format get 11 seats, with the HADASH-TAAL bloc strengthening to 6. A significant number of lists risk not crossing the electoral threshold, collectively burning about 5 mandates. In an alternative scenario, with a single list of HADASH, TAAL, and BALAD, the Arab parties get 14 mandates, weakening the coalition to 47 seats and reducing the opposition's numbers to 55. In a direct competition for the post of prime minister, Gadi Eisenkot overtakes Netanyahu: 49% vs 38%. The poll also revealed that 64% of citizens believe Israel should strike Iran preemptively on its own, without waiting for US approval. The poll involved 3112 people, of whom 506 constituted a representative sample. The maximum margin of error is 4.4%.
