Exposed: How Histadrut Funds Aided Democratic Party Candidate

A Histadrut comptroller report reveals serious allegations regarding the conduct of the Social Justice and Gender Equality Department, headed by Yaya Pink, a Kaplan protest activist recently elected in the Democratic Party primaries. According to the report, the department operated without a formal definition of objectives, measurable goals, or a detailed budget breakdown. The department's budget for 2023-2024 stood at about 1.4 million shekels, a significant portion of which was transferred to private NGOs. Among the NGOs that received budgets: "Beit Yigal Alon", "Drachim", and "Drachim U'Meshulim" headed by Avishai Ben Aharon, a Democratic Party activist who also heads the "Tlamim" circle – a group of party members that worked to support Pink in the primaries. Also, the "Centers for Social Justice" NGO and the "Shomrim" alumni movement. Contracts in amounts of 30-70 thousand shekels were executed in violation of proper administrative rules. Pink claimed in response that he did not receive formal training or handover upon the department's establishment. Additionally, Pink received a monthly payment of 8,000 shekels as a consultant for the "Social Justice" faction in the Histadrut. The Histadrut responded that the contracts were executed according to procedures, and that the report does not determine transfers based on political considerations. Pink refused to comment, calling Channel 14 "a channel that lies like it breathes".
