Expert warns: Don't wait for memory problems to protect your brain

Prof. David Tanne, chairman of the Israeli Neurological Association, calls for maintaining brain health throughout life and not waiting for symptoms to appear. He emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis of Alzheimer's and the need for a national plan to increase the number of neurologists and include advanced treatments in the health basket.

Prof. David Tanne, chairman of the Israeli Neurological Association, was interviewed on Radio 103FM and warned against waiting for memory problems to start maintaining brain health. According to him, maintaining brain health is a lifelong process that includes mental activity, proper blood flow, and a healthy lifestyle. He stressed that early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease is critical: once symptoms such as persistent forgetfulness, short-term memory decline, or language problems appear, one should seek diagnosis. Prof. Tanne called on the Ministries of Health, Finance, and the Medical Association to formulate a national plan to encourage young doctors to specialize in neurology and to include advanced treatments in the health basket. He noted that the field of neurology is highly significant for maintaining brain health and for innovative treatments.
