Expansion of the 'Yellow Line' in Gaza threatens to annihilate the remnants of its agricultural lands

Farmers and agricultural experts in the Gaza Strip express fears over the ongoing expansion of what is known as the 'Yellow Line,' which leads to the loss of additional areas of the few remaining agricultural lands. The expansion deprives farmers of access to their lands, exacerbates losses in the agricultural sector, and reduces arable areas, resulting in a shortage of plant production. Farmers call on the international community and UN institutions to urgently intervene to support the agricultural sector. Farmer Khaled Abu Said explains that the occupation is advancing westward rapidly, leading to land leveling, destruction of irrigation networks, and damage to crops. Engineer Izz al-Din Abu Amira adds that the advance leads to the seizure of more land at a sensitive time when farmers had begun to resume their activities. Agricultural expert Nizar al-Wahidi confirms that the damage rate in agricultural sectors has reached 85%, with total losses estimated at $3.49 billion, 158,909 dunams affected out of 182,247 dunams, and a near-total collapse of the irrigation system.
