Even on Israelis' Favorite Islands: Wave of Anti-Semitic Protests in Greece

Greece: 91 pro-Palestinian protest sites are expected to operate across the country, including on the tourist islands. Organizers, including BDS Greece, demand an arms embargo, sanctions on Israel, reinstating the visa requirement, and screening Israeli soldiers and reservists. The main rally will take place in Athens at Monastiraki Square at 7:00 PM.

Across Greece, 91 pro-Palestinian protest sites are expected to operate, including on the islands popular among Israelis. Organizers, including BDS Greece, the March to Gaza Greece organization, and the Palestinian community in Greece, demand an arms embargo on Israel, sanctions, reinstating the visa requirement for Israeli citizens, and screening Israeli soldiers and reservists entering the country, on suspicion of involvement in what they define as "war crimes." In Athens, the main rally will take place at 7:00 PM at Monastiraki Square, and in Thessaloniki, a protest will be held near the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos at 7:30 PM. Additional sites have been set in Rhodes, Kos, Mykonos, Crete, Corfu, Zakynthos, Naxos, Tinos, Samos, and Lesbos. The radical left organization ANTARSYA announced its support for the protests and attacked the security ties between Athens and Jerusalem and Greece's purchase of Israeli weapons systems. The protest takes place against the backdrop of close strategic relations between Israel and Greece, and the organizers hope to replicate the nationwide protest events held last summer.
