Organizers of Eurovision 2027 have postponed the announcement of the host city in Bulgaria. The delay is due to additional review of the bids of two finalists — Sofia and Burgas. According to preliminary data, the final decision has already been made, but the official announcement has been delayed to complete technical and organizational coordination. The host city is expected to be named next week. The main contender is considered to be Sofia, which has the largest arena in the country with about 18,000 seats, developed transport infrastructure, an international airport, and the necessary hotel base. Its only rival is Burgas, offering a modern arena with about 15,000 seats and developed tourist infrastructure on the Black Sea coast. Israel has a special interest in the decision. The preliminary calendar of the contest provides for the first semi-final on May 11, the second on May 13, and the final on May 15. If these dates are approved, the first semi-final will coincide with Israel's Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. In such a situation, the Israeli public broadcaster is expected to again appeal to the European Broadcasting Union with a request to allow the country's representative to go straight to the second semi-final. This mechanism has been used before and does not require Israel's participation in the draw.
