Euro-Med Monitor calls for urgent international action to end media isolation on Gaza and protect journalists
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called for urgent international action to end the media isolation imposed on the Gaza Strip, protect journalists, and allow independent international media to enter the Strip. It noted that 262 journalists have been killed since October 2023, and the prevention of protective equipment, considering this a violation of international law.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on Sunday for urgent international action to end the media isolation imposed on the Gaza Strip, ensure the protection of journalists, and immediately allow independent international media to enter the Strip. In a statement, the Monitor explained that Palestinian journalists have been working under dangerous conditions for over a thousand days of war, facing killing, injury, arrest, and deprivation of protective equipment and professional tools. It stressed that Israeli authorities prevent the entry of bulletproof vests, helmets, cameras, batteries, and broadcasting equipment, limiting their ability to work safely and document violations. It noted that more than 262 journalists have been killed since October 7, 2023, and hundreds injured and arrested, in one of the highest recorded tolls. It called on the international community to take urgent action to end media isolation, allow foreign journalists to enter, ensure the flow of equipment, and use political, diplomatic, and legal tools to compel Israel to respect international law, and support investigations by the International Criminal Court.
