The Prime Minister's Office confirmed that this evening Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with opposition leader Yair Lapid to discuss security issues. The meeting follows the announcement by US President Donald Trump about the end of the negotiation process with Iran. The last meeting between Netanyahu and Lapid took place on April 15. By tradition, the head of government is supposed to brief the opposition leader monthly on sensitive national security matters, but recently this schedule has not been maintained. The current meeting will take place against the backdrop of prolonged negotiations between the US and Iran, ongoing contacts between Israel and Lebanon regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah terrorists, as well as a recent meeting between Netanyahu and representatives of the Peace Council dedicated to advancing the American post-war plan for Gaza. Earlier, 'Kursor' reported that at a cabinet meeting Netanyahu sought to dispel talk of Israel's allegedly forced retreat from its previous line. The Prime Minister rejected versions that Washington had obtained from the government a willingness to limit military operations in certain directions. According to him, there is no question of abandoning the course that envisions continuing the confrontation on 'seven fronts' until the declared 'complete victory' is achieved.
