Elkin reveals why he ultimately did not get a slot in Likud

Minister Ze'ev Elkin, in an interview with 193FM, explained why he did not receive the reserved slot on the Likud list: it was originally intended for him, but after Gideon Sa'ar was appointed Foreign Minister, they agreed that Sa'ar would take that slot and Elkin would go to the primaries. He expressed support from mayors and groups, citing 2,400 votes, and recalled his past high placements.

Minister Ze'ev Elkin, in an interview with radio station 193FM, explained why he did not receive the reserved slot on the Likud list for the upcoming Knesset elections. According to him, it was initially assumed that the reserved slot would go to him, and Gideon Sa'ar would run through the primaries. However, after Sa'ar was appointed Foreign Minister, Elkin noted that he is rarely in the country due to trips and night cabinet meetings. They agreed to change the plan: Sa'ar received the reserved slot, and Elkin decided to participate in the primaries. Elkin stated that he is not afraid of the contest, as he is supported by mayors and national groups, and they brought 2,400 people to vote. He recalled that he was previously elected to the 7th, 8th, and 11th places. The primaries will take place this coming Monday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported Sa'ar.
