Eli Sharabi: Someone is pulling strings to make us forget October 7

Held captive survivor Eli Sharabi on Monday sharply criticized politicians' remarks about October 7 in an interview with Kan News, claiming that someone is pulling strings to make the date and the magnitude of the disaster forgotten. He addressed statements by Netanyahu and Smotrich, and Mansour Abbas's refusal to define Hamas as a terrorist organization.

Eli Sharabi, a former hostage, on Monday sharply criticized a series of remarks by politicians regarding the October 7 massacre, in an interview with the program "Ba'hatzi Hayom" on Kan News (Reshet Bet). Sharabi accused that "someone is pulling strings to make October 7 forgotten," and stressed that "some of the things being said and done are not just happening. Someone is pulling strings regarding this and managing it, in the sense of making the date and the magnitude of the disaster forgotten." He added that "there is definitely a very, very big interest in minimizing this thing." Sharabi referred to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remark on Channel 14 about his weight loss, and to Minister Bezalel Smotrich's claim that thanks to him the hostages returned. "This is a series of reactions that I definitely felt belittle the memory of my loved ones, and I will never lend a hand to that," he said. He criticized elected officials: "They lost their sense of humility and modesty long ago, and unfortunately some of them also lost their sanity." Sharabi also addressed the refusal of Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas to define Hamas as a terrorist organization, saying: "It is definitely sad to hear that Mansour Abbas, who is considered one of the more moderate Arab-Israelis, is unable to say the simplest thing that the Hamas organization is a terrorist organization, which is clear to the whole world."
