Eisenkot petitions election committee: Netanyahu uses soldiers for propaganda

The Yashar party of Gadi Eisenkot filed a petition with the Central Elections Committee demanding that Netanyahu and Likud remove propaganda publications featuring IDF soldiers, military uniforms, and operational footage. The petition details the profile picture on Netanyahu's Facebook and a video from August 5. Yashar notes that Likud itself sought to disqualify such use, and the committee set a standard. The petition follows a decision on Likud's petition against Yashar.

The Yashar party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, filed a petition today (Wednesday) with the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Sohlberg, demanding that Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud party remove dozens of propaganda publications featuring soldiers, IDF uniforms, and documentation of operational activity, contrary to the law. The petition detailed the permanent profile picture on Netanyahu's Facebook account, in which he is shown surrounded by IDF soldiers, a video published on August 5 in which Netanyahu describes a meeting with recruits, and other publications incorporating soldiers, pilots, officers, and weapons. Yashar argued that this is not a coincidental appearance but a recurring and widespread pattern. It was also noted that Likud itself had previously sought to disqualify such use, and the committee set a standard. The petition follows the chairman's decision on Likud's petition against Yashar, in which it was determined that repeated use of soldiers may constitute prohibited use of public assets. Last week, Sohlberg issued a temporary order to remove a video of Netanyahu with children.
