Eisenkot: 'Israelis are fed up with promises – we need actions'

Chairman of the Yashar party, Gadi Eisenkot, held a conference this evening (Monday) to strengthen rural areas and Israeli agriculture, with the participation of dozens of council heads and leaders of settlement movements. At the conference, Maj. Gen. (res.) Tal Russo presented the party's plan, which views agriculture and food security as national strategic goals. Eisenkot spoke and said that 'Israelis are fed up with lofty talk and promises,' and called for action: long-term planning, support for agriculture, and strengthening food security. He committed that a representative of the working settlement movement would be placed on the Yashar list, and that the head of the Agriculture Ministry would be someone guided by agricultural values. The conference was held against the backdrop of the election campaign and reflects an attempt to brand the party as an address for farmers and residents of the periphery.
