Eight Islamic countries issue demand to Israel
The foreign ministers of eight Islamic countries have demanded that Israel abandon its construction plans in the E1 zone between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim. The joint statement was signed by Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The project, in their view, contradicts international law and threatens the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The foreign ministers of eight Islamic states — Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE — have issued a joint demand for Israel to abandon its construction plans in the E1 zone. This territory is located east of Jerusalem, between the city and the Israeli settlement of Ma'ale Adumim. The statement was published by the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The authors of the document argue that the project's implementation contradicts international law and could significantly complicate the creation of a Palestinian state by disrupting territorial continuity between Ramallah, eastern Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. The ministers also linked this demand to international mediation efforts, including American initiatives around the Gaza Strip. Separately, they accused Israeli settlers of violence against Palestinians and their property, and the Israeli authorities of supporting such actions. The E1 project remains a subject of long-standing disputes due to its strategic location, which could alter the territorial situation around Jerusalem.
