Edelstein on Likud slots: 'They throw mud and garbage at each other, disgusting'

MK Yuli Edelstein sharply criticized the Likud party's internal battles over reserved slots, calling them 'disgusting.' He took a dig at the Prime Minister regarding a possible slot for Yair Netanyahu, and said that the 'HaAchdut' party he founded with Gilad Erdan will only work to form a broad government. Edelstein also responded to Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi regarding the draft law.

MK Yuli Edelstein, a former senior Likud member, sharply criticized the internal battles over reserved slots in the Likud party. In an interview with Radio North 104.5FM, he said: 'It's disgusting to see what's happening there with the slots,' and added that he receives text messages from candidates with 'mud and garbage' they throw at each other. Edelstein, who came in first and second place in past primaries, said it's unprecedented to throw out slots to reserve places for figures, and in the end it closes with a reserved slot for the movement's chairman and a minister. Regarding the possibility that Yair Netanyahu will be given a reserved slot, he said: 'Logic says I hope not,' and called on the Prime Minister to invest energy in the country 'and not in nonsense in the Likud list.' He also responded to Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, who accused him of harming the advancement of the draft law, and said that those who torpedoed a real draft law are the ones who harmed the country's security, while mentioning a shortage of 12,000 soldiers. Edelstein emphasized that the 'HaAchdut' party he founded with Gilad Erdan will only work to form a broad government, and will not join a narrow government. He said that the attacks from both sides of the map indicate that their message is being received, and asked: 'If we are so small – why all the hysteria?'
