Ecuador's intelligence chief and 5 Americans killed in helicopter crash

The helicopter was owned by Lady Lori Helicopters and was transporting guests of the tour agency &Beyond, on a flight from the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to the Ewaso Nyiro River. Ecuadorian media confirmed that among the dead were Sensi-Contugi and his wife, fashion designer Stephanie Sensi, as well as company executive Jose Suarez. The Presidency of Ecuador issued an official condolence message. A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department confirmed the deaths of the five American citizens and stated that the embassy is providing consular assistance. The Red Cross in Kenya reported difficulties in rescue due to mountainous terrain and fire at the scene. Kenya's Ministry of Transport has opened an official investigation.
