East Jerusalem resident arrested on suspicion of threatening to murder MK Suchot

Tarzan Hamad, a 25-year-old East Jerusalem resident, was arrested on suspicion of threatening to murder MK Tzvi Suchot and sending him images of weapons and ammunition. Following the threats, the threat level on Suchot was raised to level 4 and security was reinforced. Suchot stated that the threats will not deter him.

Tarzan Hamad, a 25-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, was arrested today (Thursday) on suspicion of threatening to murder Member of Knesset Tzvi Suchot. According to the suspicion, Hamad sent a message to Suchot's Facebook account with an image of a weapon and the caption: "I always have a gun, I walk around without a security check, I will kill you when I see you." Following the threats, the Knesset and the Israel Police raised the threat level on Suchot to level 4, and reinforced security and tightened security arrangements. According to Suchot's office, the threats came after a series of tours he conducted in schools in the Arab sector as part of his parliamentary activity and the fight against protection rackets. Suchot responded: "I commend the Israel Police for the swift action and the arrest of the suspect. These threats will not deter me and will not prevent me from continuing my public mission. The violence, crime, and illegal weapons caches in the Arab sector are a serious threat to the security of Israel's citizens, and I will continue to act against them with all my might. Whoever thinks threats will silence me is wrong."
