Israel Railways is entering the final stretch of the Route 431 project, which aims to connect the communities of the center and the lowlands with Modi'in and Jerusalem via a new electric railway, shorten travel times, and connect areas and stations to the national rail network. As part of the works to connect the new line to the national network in the Modi'in area, train service between Modi'in and Ben Gurion Airport stations will be temporarily suspended on several dates in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, a free shuttle service will operate for passengers. The service suspension will begin on Saturday night, August 22, and will also include the night trains between Saturday night and Sunday. In addition, service will be suspended on Thursday, August 27, from approximately 22:00, on Friday, August 28, and on Saturday night, August 29. Additional works will take place on Thursday, September 3, from approximately 22:00, on Friday, September 4, and on Saturday night, September 5. The Modi'in–Jerusalem line will operate as usual, and train service will resume every Sunday at 04:00 in the morning. The Route 431 project includes about 30 kilometers of new, double, electric track, the construction of bridges and tunnels, and two new passenger stations – Rishon LeZion Tashah and Ramla South–Kiryat Ha'Omanim. As part of the project, the longest railway bridge in Israel was also built, about 3.5 kilometers long, between the Tashah and HaRishonim stations in Rishon LeZion. In addition, two tunnels were dug at a depth of about 20 meters, including a 450-meter tunnel, and an existing tunnel at the western end of the route was upgraded. Israel Railways recommends that passengers check before traveling on the company's website, app, or service center at *5770.
