Due to "lack of evidence": rape case against Yuval Vilner closed

The State Prosecutor's Office has closed the rape cases against musician Yuval Vilner, four years after the first complaint was filed, due to lack of evidence. Vilner, 38, was suspected of raping Shi-Li Atari and sexually assaulting Naama Shahar. His attorney, Moshe Weiss, stated that "there is only one truth and the truth has come to light."

The State Prosecutor's Office announced the closure of the rape cases against musician Yuval Vilner, 38, due to lack of evidence. The decision was made four years after the first complaint was filed by Shi-Li Atari, who alleged that Vilner raped her in 2011 while they were studying at the Rimon School of Music. Another complaint was filed by Naama Shahar, who alleged sexual assault. In May 2026, it became known that Vilner was the suspect in the cases. Vilner's attorney, Moshe Weiss, responded: "We welcome the prosecutor's decision. There is only one truth and the truth has come to light." Atari wrote after his name was published: "For 15 years I did not have the basic right to say the name Yuval Vilner out loud."
