An indictment was filed today (Monday) with the Nazareth Magistrate's Court against a 35-year-old northern resident for two separate incidents in which, according to the indictment, he violently attacked his wife. The couple married only about eight months ago, and the indictment describes a series of violent acts that occurred in their shared home in northern Israel. According to the indictment, the couple married at the beginning of the year, and already in April, about four months after the wedding, the first violent incident occurred. During an argument that developed between the two, the defendant pushed his wife and slapped her on the head. The woman tried to defend herself with her hands, but according to the indictment, the defendant continued to attack her, kicked her in the chest area, and slapped her again on the head. Following the attack, she required a medical examination, which revealed that one of her ribs was injured and a fracture was suspected. Another violent incident occurred earlier this month. According to the indictment, during one of the nights, an argument developed between the couple over the woman's suspicion that her husband was texting another woman on his mobile phone. During the argument, the defendant cursed her, spat in her face, and slapped her while she was in the bedroom. When she tried to leave the bedroom and asked him to sleep in the living room, he allegedly approached her while she was lying on the bed, pushed her, grabbed her hair, and dragged her across the house toward the living room. There, according to the indictment, he kicked her several times, including in the head area. The woman managed to escape to the first floor of the house and hid behind a table, but according to the indictment, the defendant followed her and threw chairs at her. He then climbed onto the table, grabbed her hair, and slapped her on the head and hands. Later, he allegedly strangled her in the bedroom and slapped her again on the head. Finally, the woman managed to escape to the bathroom, locked herself inside, and called the police. As a result of the attack, the woman suffered bruises to her face, neck, hands, and stomach. The indictment attributes to the defendant two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm to a partner.
