"Doctors Without Borders" demands opening an investigation into the occupation's targeting of its employees in Gaza
The organization "Doctors Without Borders" condemned the Israeli Military Advocate General's decision to close two cases related to the targeting of its employees in Gaza without opening a criminal investigation, and demanded an independent and impartial investigation. It noted that 15 of its employees have been killed by Israeli forces since October 2023, among nearly 1,700 health workers killed in the Strip.
The organization "Doctors Without Borders" condemned the Israeli Military Advocate General's decision to close two cases related to the targeting of its employees in the Gaza Strip, without opening a criminal investigation. The decision came nearly two years after the organization submitted its formal requests, and after it appealed to the Israeli Supreme Court protesting the lack of response. The organization considered that closing the files after this delay raises more questions than it provides answers, and that the internal military investigation cannot replace independent accountability. The organization noted that 15 of its employees have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023, pointing out that its employees and members of their families were killed despite knowledge of their locations, and that the organization's vehicles were clearly marked with its logo. It added that these represent part of nearly 1,700 healthcare workers killed in Gaza during the same period, amid the destruction of health facilities and the targeting of humanitarian convoys, medical and relief workers, journalists, and UN employees. The first case concerns multiple attacks targeting an organization convoy in Gaza City in November 2023, resulting in the deaths of two people. The second case dates back to a raid targeting a Doctors Without Borders shelter in Khan Younis in the southern Strip in February 2024, killing two people and wounding six others. The organization renewed its demand to reopen the two cases and refer them to an independent and impartial investigation body.
