Dmitry Yablonsky to Lead Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra
Dmitry Yablonsky has been appointed music director and chief conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra for a five-year term until 2031. He will succeed Julian Rachlin. Yablonsky has a long association with the orchestra, having conducted it in Israel and abroad. The management and the mayor of Jerusalem congratulated him. The orchestra will receive additional financial support from international funds.
Dmitry Yablonsky has been appointed music director and chief conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (JSO) for an initial five-year term, until 2031. Yablonsky, a world-renowned conductor and cellist, has a long association with the orchestra: he has conducted it in Israel and on international tours, including the US, UAE, and Japan, and became conductor laureate in 2016. He will succeed Maestro Julian Rachlin, who completed a three-year term. In his statement, Yablonsky emphasized the orchestra's commitment to uniting people through music. Chairman of the Board Zelig Rabinovich and General Manager Ofer Amsalem congratulated him, noting his experience and role in the orchestra's next chapter. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon also expressed confidence in the continuation of high cultural standards. The orchestra plans to expand its international activities and strengthen its professional and financial base, including additional support from international charitable foundations. Yablonsky was born in Moscow, lives in Israel, and has performed on the world's major stages, including Carnegie Hall and La Scala, with a discography of over 80 albums.
