The increase in recuperation payments is delayed because the expansion decree has not yet taken effect. Most private sector employees will receive money at the old rate – 418 shekels per day. Public discussion will continue until August 7, 2026. After the decree is approved, the difference will be paid retroactively. Meanwhile, the reduction of one recuperation day that was in effect in 2024–2025 has been canceled.
The increase in recuperation payments, agreed upon between the Histadrut and the business sector, is delayed for most private sector employees. The reason is that the expansion decree has not yet taken effect. Public discussion will continue until August 7, 2026, after which Labor Minister Yariv Levin will sign the decree. Meanwhile, payments are calculated at the old rate – 418 shekels per day. If the decree is approved, the difference will be paid retroactively. The good news: the reduction of one recuperation day, introduced in 2024–2025 as part of austerity measures during the "Iron Swords" war, has been canceled. In 2026, the quota of days returns to the full norm depending on seniority: from 5 days in the first year to 10 days from the 20th year. Payments are taxable but are not included in pension contributions. The right to payments arises after one year of work with the same employer.
