Disappearance of Eldar Dayan: Police locate two helmets he used on the day he vanished

Police have located two helmets allegedly used by missing person Eldar Dayan and his friends on the day of his disappearance, which may shed light on his whereabouts. Dayan has been missing since July 18, and police believe he went underground after driving without a license and injuring his friend. The detention of his friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, was extended by four days. The two are suspected of obstruction, assault, threats, and conspiracy.

Detectives from the Negev district have located two helmets that, according to information in investigators' hands, were used by missing person Eldar Dayan and his friends on the day of his disappearance, and may shed light on his current location. This was reported this evening on Kan News. Dayan has been missing for over two weeks, since July 18, and police still assess that he went underground after driving a vehicle without a driver's license and injuring his friend, and that he is on the run to avoid investigation. Yesterday, the detention of Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, Dayan's friends, was extended by four more days. A police source told Kan News: "Maxim is silent in the investigation and not cooperating, Omri speaks little and has already been caught lying in his testimony." On July 18, Dayan, Peretz, and Barberman traveled from Dimona to the center. They arrived at a park in Hod HaSharon, where a brawl developed between Dayan and his two friends. Peretz and Barberman left the scene in Barberman's mother's car, leaving Dayan behind. After a while, they returned to the place where they had left Dayan. All three were under the influence of drugs throughout the event. Dayan introduced his friends to a group of five men he met in the park, and a brawl developed between the two groups. At some point, Peretz got into Barberman's mother's car and tried to run over one of the men they were fighting with, who was injured very lightly. The car's windshield was damaged because the victim hit it after the attempted run-over. Dayan's own participation in the brawl was relatively limited, and one of the five men who confronted the three testified to police that Peretz and Barberman threatened to kill him. Currently, the two are suspected of obstruction, assault causing injury, threats, and conspiracy to commit a crime. In the coming week, the Central District and the prosecution are expected to advance with them toward filing a prosecutor's statement regarding the brawl. The brawl between Dayan and his friends and another group in the park in Hod HaSharon is being investigated by the Central Unit of the Central District, while his disappearance is being investigated by the Negev Unit.
