Despite the declarations: progress toward the entry of the multinational force into Gaza | Guy Azriel

Despite denials from the Prime Minister's Office, significant progress has been made in establishing the international stabilization force for Gaza. Kosovo sent forces to a base in Kiryat Gat, Morocco completed training, and Albania is expected to join. Kazakhstan, Burundi, and Uganda will send forces, while talks with Indonesia have not yet matured. The cabinet vote was approved last month.

Despite the official statements from the Prime Minister's Office that the entry of an international force into the Gaza Strip has not yet been approved, significant progress has been made toward this move. Our political correspondent Guy Azriel revealed this evening (Friday) on 'Kabinet Shishi' that several countries have already begun operational preparations. Kosovo sent forces to a base in Kiryat Gat, Moroccan forces have completed their training, and Albania is expected to join soon. Kazakhstan, Burundi, and Uganda are expected to send additional forces, while talks with Indonesia have not yet matured. The cabinet vote and approval took place last month. The Prime Minister's Office clarified this evening that what was approved is 'future immunity,' and that in practice no entry has been approved and no international force has been brought in at this time. The clarification comes, among other things, following documentation of foreign forces at the American base in Kerem Shalom published earlier this week.
