The system will operate in three compatibility modes: a first mode for old apps that will be confined to a narrow window in the center, a second mode for apps updated to the basic version 27.0 that will expand slightly, and a third mode that will require dedicated adaptation for iOS 27.1 for full display. The irony is striking given that Google and Android manufacturers have been dealing with this issue for nearly a decade and have solved most compatibility problems. However, the iOS developer community tends to adopt new design standards more quickly. Apple hopes that by the time the device reaches stores next month, many popular apps will release compatibility updates.
