Demanded 50,000 shekels not to distribute intimate footage - and were arrested at the meeting point

Two young residents of Ar'ara, in their 20s, were arrested last night (Wednesday, September 9, 2026) on suspicion of extortion by threats. According to the suspicion, the two threatened a resident of Ar'ara in the Negev that they would publish intimate footage that could harm him, if he did not pay them 50,000 shekels. The victim filed a complaint with the police, and an investigation was opened. Detectives from the Ar'ara station organized a controlled meeting with the suspects, and upon their arrival at the point to collect the money, they were arrested. Chief Inspector David Apteker, a detective officer at the Ar'ara station, stated that the police acted to reach the suspects in real time and prevent the continuation of the extortion. The suspects were transferred for further investigation.
