It explained that the occupation prison administration informed it of Diab's death, noting that the occupation's response included claims that the prisoner was suffering from a health condition. However, the prisoner's family denied this, confirming that he was in good health and did not suffer from any illnesses at the time of his arrest, while the commission estimated his death date as September 18, 2024, about nine months after his arrest. According to the commission, among the martyrs of the prisoner movement who have died since October 7, 2023, 53 are from the Gaza Strip, as the occupation authorities continue to withhold information about the fate of a number of Palestinian detainees from the Strip. The commission warned of the continued conditions of prisoners inside Israeli occupation prisons and detention centers, calling on the international community to urgently intervene to stop what it described as policies of torture and abuse against Palestinian detainees. It affirmed that it has testimonies and data indicating that detainees have died under torture, especially from the Gaza Strip, noting that the occupation authorities have not yet acknowledged a number of these cases and continue a policy of forced disappearance and concealment of detainees' fates. The commission said that the death of prisoner Diab comes in the context of a 'series of deliberate killings' against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, stressing that the continuation of these cases requires serious international action to put an end to what prisoners are subjected to inside occupation prisons. The commission offered condolences to the family of the martyr prisoner Ihab Diab, demanding an end to what it described as 'ongoing death' afflicting Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli occupation detention centers.
