Cyprus: Israeli couple and Palestinian couple arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking

Cyprus police arrested an Israeli couple and a Palestinian couple in Limassol on suspicion of drug trafficking. Over 126 kilograms of drugs were seized from their homes, including ketamine, cocaine, methadone, and MDMA. A court ordered their detention for eight days. Police believe the suspects are part of a smuggling network from Israel to Cyprus using luxury yachts.

Cyprus police arrested an Israeli couple and a Palestinian couple in Limassol on suspicion of drug trafficking, after searches in two properties uncovered large quantities of drugs. In the first apartment, belonging to a 53-year-old Israeli man and a 51-year-old woman, 34 grams of cocaine, 246.5 grams of ketamine, 15 grams of methadone, and 12 grams of MDMA were seized. In the second apartment, belonging to a 50-year-old Palestinian man and his 31-year-old wife, 126 kilograms of ketamine were found. A Cypriot court ordered the four to remain in custody for eight days. Local police believe the suspects are part of an organized network smuggling drugs from Israel to Cyprus, using luxury yachts anchored in Limassol and Larnaca, with the drugs hidden in buckets intended for paint. Mobile devices were confiscated from the homes. According to police, the drugs were intended for sale to Israelis staying in Cyprus, not to local residents.
