Couple detained on way to wedding attacks Ben Gvir: "He made us do a lap"

They claim they were late and guests left, and attacked Minister Ben Gvir, who responded that he would act against wild convoys and shooting weddings. The groom was held for two hours at the Ayarot station, and traffic citations were issued.

A groom and bride from southern Israel were detained for questioning last Friday on their way to their wedding, after police said their wedding convoy disrupted traffic. The couple claims they arrived late to the wedding and that some guests left. The groom and his father accused National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, saying he "made them do a lap." Ben Gvir responded: "We are putting an end to the wild wedding convoys in the Negev and to the shooting weddings that endanger lives. They will keep chattering and I will keep working." The groom said he was held for two hours at the Ayarot station, and that officers claimed he blocked traffic with one vehicle. His father wondered why they didn't just issue a citation. Sources in the National Security Ministry said the couple signed a commitment that the wedding would pass quietly, and so it was. Traffic citations were also issued to those involved.
