The release was approved by the IDF, despite the initial stance of the police and the General Security Service (Shin Bet), who recommended against allowing the burial at this stage of the investigation. His funeral will take place tonight (Wednesday) under heavy police security. The incident occurred on July 1, when a report was received about a person holding a knife near a school in Lod. A patrol car arrived at the scene, but the suspect began to flee. According to investigation findings, during his escape he encountered a team of YAMAM fighters, ran towards one of the fighters with a knife, and attempted to stab him. A struggle ensued between the two, and due to the danger, fire was opened at the suspect, who was critically wounded and died. The investigation was assigned to the Central Unit of the Central District, and police emphasized that the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation and the terrorist background has not been ruled out. After the approval of the release, a meeting was held between the family and the police, and at its conclusion, a plan was formulated for the funeral with conditions and restrictions to prevent disturbances, incitement, or support for terrorism. The police are preparing with reinforced forces and will operate with zero tolerance against any violation.
