Competition on New York flights intensifies: when to expect tickets under $1,000

United and Delta are returning to Ben-Gurion in September, intensifying competition on New York flights. A price check showed that in December, tickets can be found for under $1,000: Delta from $983. American Airlines will not return until summer 2027. Experts expect prices to drop from November.

Two of the largest American airlines, United and Delta, are preparing to resume flights to Israel, which will intensify competition on the New York route. United will begin flights on September 8 on the Newark-Tel Aviv line with two daily flights on Boeing 787 Dreamliner, while Delta will return to Ben-Gurion from September 6. American Airlines will not fly to Tel Aviv until at least summer 2027. All American airlines suspended flights with the start of the war on October 7, 2023. A Ynet price check showed that for December dates, tickets to New York can be found for less than $1,000. For Delta, on dates from December 22 to January 3, tickets cost from $983, El Al $1,220, Arkia $1,598, and United $1,842. For Rosh Hashanah (September 9-17), United offers tickets from $1,830, Delta from $1,862, El Al $3,400 for premium there and economy back, Arkia $3,498. For Sukkot (September 24-October 6), the lowest price is United from $1,735, Delta from $2,219, Arkia from $2,698, and El Al from $4,945. For random dates in November (November 5-16), the cheapest ticket is Delta from $1,221. Gil Han, CEO of Eshet Tours, expects prices to drop from November after the elections and the end of peak seasons.
