Cocaine Smuggling Worth Millions of Shekels: Sacks Seized Near Kfar Ruppin

Soldiers from the Jordan Lions Battalion and scouts of the Jordan Valley and Valleys Brigade located more than 50 kg of cocaine worth millions of shekels near Kfar Ruppin. The police collected the shipment and are investigating who is behind the smuggling attempt. The IDF notes this is a continuation of a series of thwarted attempts totaling over 200 kg of drugs in recent months.

Yesterday, a smuggling attempt of over 50 kg of cocaine was thwarted near Kfar Ruppin, on the eastern border. Soldiers from the Jordan Lions Battalion (41) and scouts of the Jordan Valley and Valleys Brigade found sacks containing the drug during searches, and alerted detectives from the Northern District Police who collected the shipment. The drug's value is estimated at millions of shekels, and the police are investigating who is behind the smuggling attempt. The IDF says this thwarting joins a series of thwarted attempts totaling over 200 kg of drugs in recent months in the eastern border area, and that the increase in thwarting is due to strengthening defense components, including the establishment of the 96th Division headquarters and a wide deployment of forces. The eastern border, which is over 320 kilometers long, does not include a hard barrier in part of it, and the IDF is working to map possible movement routes and place observation and warning measures.
