An unusual incident occurred this morning (Wednesday) at the municipal pool in Kiryat Gat, when about 100 liters of hydrochloric acid spilled in the complex during a summer outing of residents. Fire and rescue forces were dispatched to the scene and conducted searches for casualties, along with monitoring the pool area using dedicated detectors. As a result of exposure to the substance, nine visitors were lightly injured and received initial medical treatment on site. Five of the injured were evacuated for further treatment and tests at the hospital. The Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson for the Southern District emphasized that the fighters are working to gain full control of the incident and issued a directive for the public to stay away from the area. The forces remained on site until the completion of neutralization operations and the return of the place to routine.
