Clashes in Qusra: Settlers try to thwart demolition of illegal outpost

On the morning of August 12, 2026, IDF and Border Police (MAGAV) forces arrived at the Palestinian village of Qusra in Samaria to demolish a canopy erected by Jewish extremists in the courtyard of a Palestinian family. The canopy, along with two tents, had been set up on August 10 and was blocking three Palestinian families in their homes. As the demolition was attempted, dozens of settlers began streaming into the village, blocking roads with stones and clashing with soldiers. Central Command chief Avi Bluth arrived at the scene. The IDF spokesperson said the canopy was demolished, but the head of the local council, Abd al-Azim Wadi, said the situation was not under control and that three families remained blocked. Earlier, on August 11, a video surfaced showing soldiers praying with settlers under the canopy, which drew condemnation and promises of disciplinary action. The army also reported that settlers tried to use an ambulance to enter a closed military zone. As of 11:00, clashes were ongoing.
