Clan war in Ar'ara: shooting at a family, gun aimed at police, three indicted

The Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against three residents of Ar'ara in the Negev, members of the Al-Uqa family, for weapons and violence offenses in the context of a family feud. According to the indictment, the defendants shot at a vehicle and at people, and one of them aimed a gun at a police officer. During the arrest, shots were fired and stones were thrown at the police, and the vehicle's driver fled. A gun, magazines, and ammunition were seized.

The Southern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment with the Be'er Sheva District Court against Raam Al-Uqa (27), Sami Al-Uqa (30), and Khalid Al-Uqa (18), residents of Ar'ara in the Negev, for a series of weapons and violence offenses allegedly committed as part of an ongoing dispute between two families in the town. According to the indictment, filed through attorney Noga Kedar, after the defendants believed that members of the rival family had blocked a section of road, they armed themselves with guns and ammunition, some covered their faces with veils, and joined a convoy of vehicles. A YAMAM unit spotted the convoy driving recklessly, with collisions, stone-throwing, and shooting, and began a pursuit. During the chase, Raam Al-Uqa fired from a moving vehicle at another vehicle and at people who fled, and then aimed a gun at a police officer, who fired in response. When the vehicle was stopped, the three were arrested, but shooting and stone-throwing continued from several directions until additional forces arrived. The vehicle's driver escaped in the chaos, and Raam also tried to flee. A gun, two magazines, and ammunition were seized. Raam removed his veil and threw it away in an attempt to disrupt the investigation. The indictment charges all three with carrying and transporting weapons, firing from a firearm, and willfully endangering human life on a traffic route, and Raam also with obstruction of justice. In the detention request, attorney Kedar noted that the defendants acted as a group, set out in an organized convoy, and carried out ramming and shooting from a moving vehicle, indicating their dangerousness.
