Civil Defense Recovers 112 Martyrs from Under the Rubble

Civil defense teams in Gaza announced the completion of the search in a residential block destroyed by occupation forces in al-Sabra, south of Gaza City, recovering the bodies of 112 martyrs, including 40 children, 38 women, and 7 people with special needs, after 136 hours of work. 157 people remain missing under the rubble, and Colonel Muhammad Abu Dan called for heavy equipment to be brought in.

Civil defense teams in Gaza announced on Saturday the completion of search operations in the residential block destroyed by Israeli occupation forces over the heads of its residents from the al-Hasa'ina/Abu Sharia family in the al-Sabra area, south of Gaza City, recovering the bodies and remains of 112 martyrs after two weeks of efforts. The agency stated in a statement that search operations took about 136 working hours, during which the bodies of 40 children and 38 women were recovered, in addition to 7 martyrs with special needs, while 157 other missing persons could not be found and remain under the rubble without a trace. The general supervisor of recovery operations, Colonel in Civil Defense Muhammad Abu Dan, confirmed that the teams were forced to dig through the rubble with their bare hands among concrete blocks and iron, due to the lack of necessary equipment, and noted that the intertwining of bodies and their confinement within concrete slabs indicates the enormity of the missiles used and their highly destructive impact. He pointed out that field estimates indicate the disappearance of the bodies of a large number of martyrs due to the heat of explosions resulting from the use of internationally prohibited weapons, and called on humanitarian and international institutions to pressure the occupation to bring in heavy equipment to continue extracting the remaining missing.
