Civil Coalition: Legislative Elections are a National Duty, We Demand Ensuring Their Integrity

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the coalition stressed the need for the elections to be free, fair, transparent, competitive, and inclusive, without exclusion or discrimination, considering them an essential step to end the state of stagnation and institutional division. The coalition demanded ensuring the participation of displaced persons and those affected by the war, and not depriving them of their electoral right due to loss of homes or documents. It called for protecting the independence of the Central Elections Commission and enabling it to perform its tasks away from political pressures, and providing an environment that guarantees freedom of opinion, expression, assembly, and media. It warned against the use of political money, vote buying, or exploiting humanitarian needs to influence voters' will. It called for independent and effective local oversight over all stages of the electoral process, and benefiting from international oversight. It affirmed the need to respect election results and resort to legal means when objecting to them, ensuring the peaceful transfer of power. It called for a comprehensive national dialogue that consolidates political pluralism, reconciliation, and accountability.
