Circle Closes in Prague: Monument Unveiled for Paratroopers Haviva Reik and Rafael Reiss

In a military ceremony in Prague, a monument was unveiled in memory of paratroopers Haviva Reik and Rafael Reiss, who parachuted behind Nazi lines and were executed. The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Czech Army, the Israeli ambassador, and a delegation from the Kibbutz Movement.

In a full military ceremony in Prague, attended by the Chief of Staff of the Czech Army, the Police Commissioner, the Commander of the Czech Air Force, Israeli Ambassador Amir Weitbrod, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense, a monument was unveiled in memory of paratroopers Haviva Reik and Rafael Reiss. The two parachuted on a mission for the Yishuv behind Nazi enemy lines, were captured, and executed. Their remains were brought for burial on Mount Herzl in the 1950s. The initiative for the commemoration in Prague came from guide Dor Ben Ari, with assistance from the embassy and the Ministry of Defense. Also participating in the ceremony was a delegation from the Kibbutz Movement, and Avi Binyahu from Lehavot Haviva spoke.
