Children chant 'we will crush Zionism' at Palestinian Youth Movement summer school in UK

The British chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement hosted a Summer School where participants chanted 'we will crush Zionism' and 'young people, rise up, our revolution is an Arab revolution'. The event, held over the May bank holiday, brought together over 100 Arab youth. Concerns about radicalization were raised, citing a PYM football tournament where a coach wore a shirt reading '48, the future is decolonial' and two players wore jerseys with numbers 10 and 7, possibly referencing October 7. The Israeli government says PYM has ties to the PFLP and Samidoun, and a French court cited a 2015 report claiming PYM is affiliated with the PFLP.

The British chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) hosted a Summer School during which young participants chanted 'we will crush Zionism' and 'young people, rise up, our revolution is an Arab revolution'. The event, held over the May bank holiday, brought together over 100 Arab youth. PYM describes itself as a grassroots movement organizing Palestinian and Arab youth for Palestinian liberation, drawing inspiration from 'Palestinian revolutionary history' and focusing on 'working to liberate our people and land from the river to the sea.' Videos from PYM's Instagram showed mass chants against Zionism and calls for revolution, along with an image of young people watching a slideshow with a quote from PFLP member Ghassan Kanafani, who was the spokesperson for the PFLP during the Lod airport massacre. Concerns about radicalization were compounded by a PYM football tournament held last month, where the coach wore a T-shirt reading '48, the future is decolonial,' and only two students wore numbered jerseys, with numbers '10' and '7', fueling speculation of an intentional reference to the October 7 massacre. The Israeli government says PYM has close ties to the PFLP and Samidoun, and a French court, citing a 2015 report, claimed PYM is 'affiliated with the PFLP.' A 2025 study series co-sponsored by PYM and the People's Forum referred participants to an article that praises 'resistance to Israel' and sanitizes the October 7 attack. PYM has been a key organizer for the anti-Israel movement in the US, co-sponsoring at least 450 anti-Israel rallies since October 7.
