Chief of Staff Zamir Orders Restriction of Strikes in the Strip

Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has ordered in recent days a restriction on strikes in the Gaza Strip, according to sources in the Southern Command. The decision comes after the Peace Council's declaration that Israel should stop targeted killings in the Strip, and the IDF says it was made in accordance with political echelon decisions. According to a security source, forces in the Strip will be able to thwart any immediate threat if they sense danger, but targeted killings of high-value targets, as we have seen in recent weeks of October 7 terrorists, will require prior approval from Zamir. Yesterday it was reported on Kan News that the IDF will set three red lines for the 15-point agreement announced by the Peace Council over the weekend regarding ending the war in Gaza. The demands are expected to be presented at a discussion to be held tomorrow with Zamir. The first issue is full freedom of action to remove emerging threats, meaning continued foiling of terrorists who constitute a "ticking bomb." In addition, the IDF demands oversight of weapons in Gaza, but opposes intra-Palestinian oversight and demands external oversight, arguing that "you don't let the cat guard the cream." The most dramatic clause is the opposition to a partial or phased withdrawal until Hamas is completely disarmed, which contradicts the agreement. All demands will be presented to the political echelon.
