IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited today (Tuesday) the Gaza Division headquarters ("Re'im" camp) and held a conversation with the female observation soldiers in the division. Zamir heard from them about their operational activities and the challenges in the sector, and expressed appreciation for their contribution to protecting the surrounding communities, identifying threats in advance, and maintaining the security of the forces. In his remarks, Zamir cited the lessons of October 7: "We must not underestimate the enemy. Our enemies are cruel, and therefore we must be vigilant and listen to every sign." He added that the observation soldiers are "our eyes on the front" and that their organizational memory and familiarity with the sector make them a significant knowledge center for commanders. Zamir recounted that he was exposed to the strength of the observation unit in his previous roles as a battalion commander and brigade commander.
