Chase at Hizma Crossing: Car Breaks Through Barrier, Hits Civilian Vehicle

Two suspects were arrested after a chase at the Hizma crossing, following their vehicle breaking through a barrier, hitting spikes, and colliding with a civilian car. The suspects were located in the Issawiya neighborhood, and the stolen vehicle was found in Beit Hanina. The driver, a Jerusalem resident, is suspected of transporting an illegal resident from Hebron.

Two suspects were arrested yesterday (Saturday) after a chase at the Hizma crossing, following an attempt to flee a checkpoint at the entrance to Jerusalem. Border Police fighters from the Jerusalem envelope and crossing fighters operating at the scene noticed a suspicious vehicle coming from the West Bank area toward the city, and signaled the driver to stop for inspection - but he accelerated in an escape attempt, hit the spike barrier at the crossing, and struck a civilian vehicle nearby. Following the escape attempt, joint forces of Border Police fighters from the Jerusalem envelope and Jerusalem Border Police began a chase and searches for the suspects. During the operation, the two were located at the entrance to the Issawiya neighborhood in East Jerusalem, traveling in another vehicle. The vehicle suspected of being stolen, through which they broke through the barrier, was found in the Beit Hanina neighborhood. The forces arrested the two involved: the driver, a Jerusalem resident, suspected of transporting the second suspect, an illegal resident from Hebron. The two were transferred for questioning at the Investigation and Intelligence Office of the Jerusalem envelope Border Police.
